It was a great surprise when last week I received by post the Diploma of Honour awarded by gourmet Brotherhood of the MARMITE d’OR “for the excellence of services,” signed by the hand of the Lord Chancellor Bernard Tardif. The only guess is, that our b&b had received incognito visits by members of this brotherhood, the direct heir of the former Royal Company Officers de bouche founded in 1657 by Nicolas de Bonnefons, Officer de bouche of Cardinal Mazarin and Anne of Austria, mother of Louis XIV.
This brotherhood works for the protection and promotion of regional cuisines of France and quality products, produce of artisans.
