What kid doesn’t obsess over Thomas the Tank Engine and dream of growing up to be the best train driver the world has ever seen? Children’s ability to be excited over the simplest things and imagine a simpler world gives all of us immense pleasure.
Well, did you know that you can make their dreams come true in Limousin? The French region is home to the Train à Vapeur steam train that has been operating for over three decades.
The train operates all throughout the summer (you can check the dates here), covering routes to and from Limoges and Eymoutiers. It even makes stops in Châteauneuf B., which is very easily reachable from La Croix Du Reh.
But this isn’t just for the kids. The train’s day-long route takes you through the heart of the stunningly gorgeous La Haute Vienne valley and its famous nature reserves. You will fall in love with the Limousin countryside, while your kids’ imaginations will run wild with excitement of being on a real-life steam train.
The prices are very reasonable at €25 per adult, € 11 for children aged 6 – 12 and free for toddlers. For that you will spend roughly 9 to 10 hours out and about.
